The 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting (The National) kicked off today with outstanding education, a high-energy opening session, and the opening of our jam-packed Exhibit Hall. Nearly 1,000 podiatrists, exhibitors, sponsors, and guests were on hand in Washington, DC, to enjoy the premier foot and ankle meeting.
APMA Member John S. Steinberg, DPM, professor and full-time faculty member in the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine here in Washington, DC, presented an inspiring opening address on the impact of podiatry for patients. He spoke about how podiatry was uniquely positioned to help those patients and what each patient taught him as a physician and surgeon.
As a member of a true podiatry family (Dr. Steinberg’s grandfather, father, brother, and cousins also chose podiatry), Dr. Steinberg celebrated the profession and encouraged attendees to join him. “We’re at a critical moment with student enrollment and student recruitment,” he said. “Yet this is the best time in our profession. We’ve opened so many doors, and we should all be screaming from the mountain. I would love for people to walk away from this talk and hold their heads up high and be proud of what the profession is doing and the impact we have.” APMA gratefully acknowledges Averitas Pharma, Inc., for its support of our opening session.
APMA's Exhibit Hall celebrated its grand opening immediately following the opening address.
Attendees were eagerly anticipating the outstanding education and networking to come. In the line-up for the next three days in DC:
