APMA's Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) kicked off this weekend in Chicago at the Young Physicians’ Institute (YPI). The ELP is a leadership-intensive program designed to support an exclusive group of young physicians with a vested interest in future leadership opportunities.
The YPI began Friday evening with a reception that allowed ELP participants to network with each other, along with APMA leaders including President Laura Pickard, DPM; Young Physician Trustee Rebecca Sundling, DPM, MPH; Executive Director and CEO James Christina, DPM; and Senior Medical Director and Director of Clinical Affairs Dyane Tower, DPM, MPH, MS. On Saturday, Kittra Owens, DPM, chief of staff for the VA Central Alabama Health Care System, delivered an inspiring keynote address on her path to leadership. Following Dr. Owens’ talk, participants engaged in a day of discussion and introspection as they articulated their own leadership styles, considered how to advance young physician leadership at APMA, and learned about the concept of “possibility thinking.”
Congratulations to all the participants accepted into the ELP and thank you for your contributions to an outstanding event! APMA gratefully acknowledges our program sponsors: PICA, Bako Diagnostics, and Organogenesis.
