Students, friends, and family took part in APMA’s Student Advocacy Week this year, generating 11,626 letters to Congress and posts to social media on multiple issues facing the profession.

The event built upon last year’s successes by setting a goal of 5,000 actions, which was met by the second day of the three-day event. Student Advocacy Week was an incredible success for everyone involved, especially given the circumstances and changes that had to be made due to COVID-19. Ultimately our students, with support from their friends and family, showed not only our community, but also those on Capitol Hill why #studentsforpodiatry and #advocacymatters.

APMA applauds the great work of the four students—Akram Aljumail (Class of 2021, Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine [TUSPM]), Asmaa Ibrahim (Class of 2023, TUSPM), Alyson Raynor (Class of 2023, Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science [SCPM]), and Katie Springer (Class of 2021, SCPM)—who worked diligently with APMA’s Legislative Advocacy department to make Student Advocacy Week a resounding success and to help raise awareness about issues facing our community.
