CMS has re-opened the 2019 extreme and uncontrollable circumstances application. The following reporting practices will need to submit an application proactively and no later than April 30, if they would like to receive a neutral adjustment in 2021 for the 2019 reporting year:
If your practice falls into one of these categories, you must proactively submit the application and request that all four performance categories be re-weighted to zero percent. Clinicians can submit the application here. This application must be submitted by April 30.
As a reminder, CMS has announced that MIPS eligible clinicians reporting as individuals who have reported either nothing or only one MIPS performance category will be automatically exempted under the extreme and uncontrollable circumstances policy exception, and will receive a neutral adjustment in 2021. The MIPS participation lookup tool has been updated to reflect this change. Providers can check their status here.
Members can find all information related to the COVID-19 impact to MIPS at www.apma.org/COVID19MIPS. For all information on the current MIPS performance year, visit www.apma.org/MIPS2020.
