APMA is the only organization lobbying for podiatrists and their patients on Capitol Hill. As the voice of podiatric medicine to your legislators and regulators, APMA is active on a variety of critical issues affecting podiatry and the entire health-care system.
Frank Spinosa, DPM, was installed as president of APMA today, by his wife and partner Robin Ross, DPM, at the annual meeting of the House of Delegates.
He addressed the house and outlined goals including increasing membership beyond the already astonishing 80 percent of eligible podiatrists; advocating for appropriate reimbursement; continuing to educate the public about podiatric medicine; preparing members for changes like ICD-10; continuing to strengthen relationships with other medical professional organizations; increasing the number of members participating in residency training; and more.
Dr. Spinosa exhorted the delegates and the entire membership to “join me in my great enthusiasm for the coming year. Let’s bring back optimism to our profession.”
Today’s installation ceremony was historic, marking the first time a president was installed by his or her spouse; an APMA member must install the new president.
